Racing Starts Soon

The Racing starts soon with the first Premier Division Race being held in Bala on the 3rd of March. Its been a tough winter balancing a heavy work load to finance everything and getting as many training sessions done as I can. Although I havnt been in a boat as much as I would of been in an ideal situation, I feel I have ticked every box I possibly could, and that is the one thing one needs to be able to say on the start line. I had a coached session with Andy Raspin, Welsh National Coach, in Cardiff last night and my times were On Par with the Top welsh guys. It was good to have a bit of re-assurance that I'm heading in the right direction.

A Fresh Start to 2012

Kicking Things off for me this year Started with a 10 days demonstrating the sport we know and love at the London Boat Show at the Excell Centre! The event ran along side the Outdoor Show which made for a great atmoshere. It was good to see alot of youngsters glowing with an urge to hit the water and try out the various 'Try it yourself'' sessions.

I have Joined Forces with Sqaure Rock who Distribute Sandiline Gear in the UK. It sure is a good feeling wearing some new gear for a change

There has been a lot of traveling for me as I comute to Cardiff, London and Nottingham to make the most of the little time I have to prepare for the coming season, only a few weeks away now, and I am still back and forth to Warrington to give support to my family as my Father is still Battling with health problems. It is rewarding however to see the progress that is being made and has aloud do some work on my van which is still on the drive amidst a heap of snow!

As Im not involved with a programe im still training alone so no video to update with Slalom but I will Leave you with some white water kayaking that saw me into the New Year down in South Wales, Here

Mainland Europe

After Competing in Cardiff I left for mainland Europe. The plan was to spend a couple of months touring around Europe and competing in a couple of ICF races. First stop Slovakia for the 2011 Danube Cup. Unfortunatley I never made it. I broke down in Austria and it turned into quite a mission just getting Home.

Its back to working and training as much as I can around that. I have been up in Scotland training for my raft guide qualification. I have now achieved a Level 2 award allowing which has opend many doors in terms of comercial rafting so hopefully a new avenue for a better income, alowing me to work less and train more effectively.

My next competiton will be the Paul Mckonkey Memorial Slalom race which is acting as an Olympic Selection Qualifier and Prem Race in Nottingham in september.

After that I will be competing in the World Championships for Creeking , Addidas Sickline Competition which will be held in Austria at the end of September.

Team Trials

It's again been a while since an update, Its been a stressfull couple of months.Team Trials were well contested. I was out of the mix by a few places. My general performance was pretty good but with a few technical mistakes leading to some time loss and penalties which was reflected in the results.

So its now back to training mode. Im looking forward to Danube Cup in June and pushing myself in training over the summer.

Heres a video from Team Trials:
